Archive Zero

A Legacy Protocol by DVC

A sovereign memory bank for lived intelligence. Archive Zero preserves the decisions, mistakes, triumphs, heartbreaks, relationships, and context around a life or body of work, then makes that record queryable with provenance and humility.

What it preserves

Archive Zero is built for the parts of memory that usually disappear first: the why, the texture, and the source trail.

Decisions

What changed, what was chosen, what evidence existed, and what tradeoffs mattered at the time.

Relationships

People, projects, handoffs, promises, ruptures, repairs, and the context that made them human.

Lessons

Mistakes, triumphs, heartbreaks, repeated patterns, unresolved questions, and the counsel they produced.

Artifacts

Conversations, notes, docs, calendars, transcripts, demos, packets, and source-backed records.

The Legacy Protocol

The product is not one interface. It is a five-layer operating pattern for turning lived context into durable, trusted inheritance.

01

Capture

Bring in conversations, notes, docs, live sessions, daily records, decisions, and artifacts without flattening them.

02

Structure

Chunk the archive semantically, bind entities and dates, track provenance, and preserve source boundaries.

03

Retrieve

Answer questions through hybrid search, direct vault evidence, and citation-backed synthesis.

04

Reflect

Surface patterns, lessons, open loops, narrative arcs, and the places memory is incomplete.

05

Inherit

Package the archive into private, role-aware memory views trusted people can safely ask questions of.

Two boundaries, held at once.

Most systems guard privacy. Archive Zero guards privacy and honesty together, because a memory bank that protects your secrets but speaks in your voice has failed in a deeper way.

Read the full trust boundary

The privacy boundary

What is safe to share with a given person. Private life, family memory, and workplace material each carry different limits, and the limits travel with the memory wherever it goes.

The honesty boundary

No false certainty, and no impersonation. A packet narrates about a person. It never ventriloquizes them. The archive can say what someone probably valued, and it will mark that as inference, but it will never speak as them.

First proof: the founder vault.

The first Archive Zero instance is internal: DVC's own vault, tested against real questions like travel history, decisions, product pivots, and family-safe inheritance.
